Today's Google News search brings a reminder from Vancouver, BC that all caregivers need education about the danger of inflicted injury and the necessity of preparing a coping plan. The circumstances aren't clear here, but some children placed in foster care will challenge the coping abilities of caregivers. Foster care programs need to incorporate training about SBS and SIDS when training foster parents who will be caring for babies, infants and toddlers.

A 10-week-old baby is in critical condition in hospital suffering from what police believe is shaken-baby syndrome. The child was in foster care, a ward of the province, at the time of the alleged assault, said Det. Paul Brailey of Central Saanich police yesterday.
